American river complex

This fire started a lot more calm then the previous one. First off R and R was very enjoyable. I did absolutely nothing except went two two movies and went out for dinner both nights. That is the usual though. I got a lot of sleep which is like golf during the season so that was for sure needed.

The fire was burning intensely whenever we got there was already at least 12 other three shot crews so we knew right away that it was going to be an intense first few days. The fire was listed at 0% contained and not controlled at all. And when there are a lot of shot crews you know that there is a lot of work to be done. It just turned out that the work was on. Extremely steep steep country and a lot of poison oak. But the good news is that I was and is on saw the entire roll. So that is sweet daddy. But wow it is a lot of work. Holding a chainsaw and sucking those fumes constantly makes you want to vomit on an hourly basis but you do it anyway.

Going back into camp every night has been good bc I have been able to eat real food and not military meals which are terrible by the way. So. The first 4 or 5 days were some what intense. It was kind of funny one day we got to sit for lunch but because we were next to top much heat our squad boss had to call in a bucket drop. When the bucket came we got douced with 700 gallons of water. If you ever been in a storm where it is raining buckets, well times that by 70 and we littrelly got drenched in a matter of seconds. It was really funny joke the bosses like to play on you because they have that power to do so

Which reminds of the rest of the fire. We got to mop up the rest of the days. Not fun but there was another funny part it had to do with me and only me getting soaked
