SO it is finally a go

For those of you that read this you will not be getting a blog update for another two weeks or longer. I have been around Fairbanks for the past two months where the fire activity is very minimal. Because the fire season up here is not active at all the lower 48 states wants our help. The other hotshot crew (Chena) just left for California on the Indian fire. They are scheduled to be down there for two weeks and then they will come back. We all wanted to go down instead but due to circumstances that are out of our hands we did not get to go. But what goes around comes around. We just got the fire order today which means the the overheads are going to be on the phones all day trying to get us plane tickets to go down south as well. I will be sure to update you on how the fire went. I plan on reinjuring my wrist because of all the use i will get out of my wrist when I start swinging the Polaski over and over but that is what the job will take. I will be sure to tell you all abo

It has been so slow

I try not to thik about it...at least this is what people tell me to do but it is getting harder and harder every day. Not only are there not very many fires or should I say none but I am starting to think what it would be like if I stayed home and worked on my relatinship with Sarah. Not to say that things with me and Sarah are not working, they are working extremely well, but what if i stayed home and just put all my efforts into US. So back to the fire thing both of these are heavily related. In Alaska the fire season is from the initial start, which is normally around June 1st or sooner, to the middle of July. Alaska has what is called the roll over date. In order not to complicate things for all of you reading this I will tell it how I see it. On July 10th Alaska gets together all big wigs of the Fire Zones and decides wether to stay in Alaska for teh majority of the Nations fire season or to ship all resources, including us, down to the lower 48. Update for all of you Going for 30 days with only 1 day off...that is a first for me Thanks to everyone for reading these blogs. It sounds to me, from the comments, that all of you like to read them and find out how my life is going. So thanks and i will try to keep you all informed on my next tour. For the past 14 days, starting on the July 4th, I have been on two different fires. Yeah you read it right. While all of you were out sipping on your beers...or relaxing by the lake and watching the fireworks...I was working. Thats cool though becuase it ended up being a pretty laid back day and who doesn't mind double pay for holiday. Not me that is for sure. Are crew was the only crew that had to work on the 4th. The day was just about over. Me and the crew members were planning on getting off at 1800 and going to play some cards and drink some beer then all the sudden we got a fire call at 1730.
