Well today was a little tougher then most days last year. It started off at 9 with PT. We did a nice jog to the pull up bars we did a set of 6-5-4 pull-ups, then 4-5-6 of dips. Then we gathered up in a circle where we had to hold the plank position until everyone was done doing pull-ups. Which was about a 1.5 minutes, which tootally sucked. Then we all had to do sit-ups together. Keep in mind we have to do them together and count them out at the same time. So while we are all counting these out if the foreman hears two numbers instead of one number then we have to start over at one. So with saying that what do you think happened at about 47 push-ups. Yep one of the rookies messed up with counting and we had to start at one. Luckily he gave us about 3 seconds to shake our arms out, yeah that is some shit. I was wiped after 47 push-ups...but such is the nature of this job....push until you cant push anymore...then pushe even harder. Wow
So after the push-ups we have to do 50 sit-ups and what happens at about 30 for one of the rookies. Keep in mind that the rest of the crew is at about 45 or so. This dang rookie says outloud that he lost his count. So naturally we have to start at 1!! so that totally sucked. I was worked after that. So the rookie made us all start over and then we had to hold the plank while we waited for him to finish the rest of his 50. That sucked big time.
Now after that we had to do dollys, which surprisingly we were able to all do those pretty good. But then we had to do more push-ups and at this time the 5 rookies are struggling to just be able to hold the push-up position. So are moto is as long as you are giving 110% then you do not have to do as many as the crew does. But you have to try until the foreman or atleast one of the leads lets you off the hook. So you would think that we are almost done with PT but you would be way wrong. That all only took about 25-30 mins.
We then set off on a Fartlek or Indian Run for about 4 miles. now that sucked alot. I mean one person, a veteran, hurt his knee pretty bad. Another person let is breakfast come up uncontraollably...if you know what i mean. So I think that that PT was pretty draining for all of us but we still have to do another one tonight.
So after that miserable PT we went to get our learn on. I am in an Ignigtion Specialist class where I am learning how to fire off. Meaning to back burns, burnouts, use of drip torchs, fusees, and other ignition devices such as a lighter or matches. Yep i said it they are teaching us how to use matches. Wow what a joke. So needless to say this stuff is pretty simple.
Sidenote: Iam trying to keep this as PG as possible, but i know towards the middle of the season that is just going to be hard.
So then after the class work we set out to do another PT but this time it was a hike. Which means we have to dress in our Greens and Yellows and don our Initial Attack gear (IA gear) and prepare for a hike. But that is not all we then have to crab a box full of water (what is called a cubie which ways 45 lbs) and pack that around through the slush and mush of AK. I mean we were walking through aobutr 2 1/2 feet of water. It totally straight sucked. The only good thing that came of that is that I was not able to feel the hotspots on my feet that my boot caused.
Well day two down.

and I know i am takign it easy on the rookies it is the overhead that can not take it easy they need to be shown how hard this job really is...
