10 Easy things to do to stay fit

I know all of you have sat and wondered what you can do during the day to keep healthy and active and here I give you 10 things that are so simple but yet so helpful. These things are really very easy to do and also they will involve no equipment what so ever.

1. Walk the dog- For those of you that are thinking well I do not have a dog well walk around the blocks with your kids or by yourself. A short walk for 10-15 minutes will burn more then 100 calories. This is an extrememly easy way to burn some calories through the day.

2. Gardening- Everyone out there is not to thrilled with the summer weather that Chicago is giving us this year, but what it does give us is the opportunity to get outdoors with very little humidity. This means that you can get in the garden for the morning or afternoon and burn some calories that way.

3. Cleaning the house- Turn on your favorite album or playlist on your Ipod and enjoy some music while you are scrubbing the shower, tub, floor or kitchen. It is something that everyone has to do often and why not enjoy a workout while listening to music

4. Running with your kids or dog- Go to a dog park or to a park and run and play with the kids. I see far too often that moms and some dads that are sitting and talking while at a play structure with the kids and just sit and chat with thier friends. Get out and run around with them and really run with your dog.

5. Sit up nice and tall- I know what all of you are thinking and it is just that easy. Try and sit and watch your favorite show during lunch or reading a book during the kids nap. Just straighting up your posture either at home or during work you can strengthen your stabilizing muscles and really help with lower back pain and poor posture.

Those are just five easy things that you can do daily if you want inorder to lose a little. These next five are going to be a little tougher

6. Parking farther away- Whenever parking in a big parking lot....don't just drive around searching for that closest spot drive to the end of all the cars and park. Knowing that your car is safer way out there anyways. This may sound simple but if you park 4 places a day and 3 times a week then you can really get in some extra distance you never would have gotten in before

7. Walk the stairs- This is so simple and not nearly enough people take advantage of it. Every time you go somewhere that invloves stairs immediately choose the stairs. Just walking 10 flights of stairs will raise the heart rate which in turns causes your body to burn more fat. Taking the stairs will require the use of many more muscles then would standing on an elevator or escalator. In turn if you were to take the stairs 1 minute a day you could lose a half pound a year.

8. Stop smokinng-there are so many reasons why you should stop but this should be helpful. These are the chemicals that are in every cigarette: arsenic, formaldehyde, lead, hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia and 43 known carcinogens. Why do you want to put these in your body. Look at it this way, would you want to give these chemicals to your kids. hopefully you answered NO!

9. Sit in the V- When watching TV you can sit on the ground and sit a V-shape. Your back at 45 dgrees and your legs straighten and locked also at 45 degrees. Extremely good way to strengthen that core

10. Drink all water for the day- This i hear will be hard for a lot you. The body naturally needs 6-8 8 oz. cups of water a day for many many reasons. If you were to drink water all day you will hopefully feel a little more energy and a lot less ups/downs throughout the day. Very good to do.

Hopefully you will be able to find all these things useful throughout your day or week. Take advantage of all these things in you will find yourself feeling better and better everyday.
